tentWimberley city council members approved a city Parks and Recreation Advisory Board recommendation for a primitive group camping program for Blue Hole Regional Park.

Primitive camping will be allowed year round at 10 group camping sites in the southwest corner of the park.  Each of the sites measures 15-feet by 15-feet.  Only group camping is allowed and no more than eight campers allowed at each site.  One vehicle is allowed per campsite and an “after-hours-access” lock will be provided at the front entry gate on nights when a campground is rented.  Water and restrooms for campers are available at the park recreation pavilion.  Picnic tables and barbecue grills for the campers also are available adjacent to the campgrounds.

Campers are not allowed to bring their own picnic tables and grills.  Campfires are prohibited along with alcohol and pets.  All general park rules apply to campers.

The fee for non-profit groups is $20 per night per campsite, and the cost for all other groups is $40.  There is a fee of $5 for each additional vehicle over the one-per-campsite limit.
