Wimberley Texans wins Region IV Championship!

Wimberley 38, Devine 12
The Wimberley Texans moved their record to 13-0 with a win Saturday night over the Devine Warhorses (13-1.) A lot of media attention was focused on the game because the Devine Warhorse running back, Joseph Sadler was attempting to break the national high school football record for points scored in a single season. Last week, he broke the single season scoring record for a Texas player and moved into third place all time for rushing yards in a single season.
Sadler came up three points short of breaking that record, but his Devine Warhorse squad came up 26 points short of moving forward toward a state championship goal.
The win by the Texans sets up a semi-final rematch of the game that ended Wimberley’s run last year – Coldspring-Oakhurst. C-O won their game against West Orange-Stark 35-13. Coach Weldon Nelms should have his team ready and the motivation to erase last year’s result will be strong.
