Wimberley Civic Club’s Spring Events

Now is the time to make your reservations for the Wimberley Civic Club’s Spring Events. The Civic Club raises thousands of dollars annually for local non-profits and awards numerous scholarships to graduating seniors. Over the past two years alone, $65,000 was donated to the Wimberley area through Hill Country Home Tour ticket and Gift Shop sales in November and Spring Event Fundraising Book which offers inexpensive events for the whole community for four months. Sign up for any of the 100-plus events in 2011 Spring Event Book available at the Visitor Center (and at the Library and elsewhere) and do your part to support your neighbors and community. Learn new things, meet new people, have fun! Newcomers, this is a great way to get to know your community. Some of the classes/events still available include:
Tea with the Heiress on Sunday, February 27 – reservation deadline is now. This event is $35 and includes a theatre ticket and an elegant champagne tea. For reservations, please call Kay Allison at 847-1873.
Games: Lots of opportunities to see old friends, make new friends, enjoy good food and play bridge, Mexican train, mah jongg, Mexican bingo and Texas hold „em. And, $15.00 will get you burgers, bunco, bingo and prizes. Call Kathleen Jennings at 847-8947.
Trips and Tours: There are still openings for Lockhart historic district, New Braunfels Heritage Village, Alamo After -Hours tour, Picnic at Aquarena Springs & glass-bottom boat ride, overnight trip to Fredericksburg with Rock Box Theatre, Waco tour, Villa Finale Mansion in San Antonio (just recently opened to the public), Painted Churches of Schulenburg, Benini Sculpture Ranch, and the Pearl Brewery & farmer‟s market tour. Theater: Bridget Farias offers an exclusive acting class at the EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens. Basic acting elements through advanced improvisation techniques will be covered. This is a great class for adults, children and families. For reservations call Bridget Farias at 847-6969.
Music from Broadway shows, movies, big band, rock and roll. Enjoy the music as Dr. Morales performs one of his few “in-town” concerts, March 8. Wimberley Community Center. For reservations call Elodie Brown at 722-3378
